SCOR FC Rovers Academy

SCOR FC Partners with Challenger.

This has been a big year for SCOR FC. Our first team entered MAPLE this fall. We then added five indoor teams. Three of these teams will play premier in the spring. Last month we added our Director of Coaching.
Now we are ready for the next step in our continued growth. SCOR FC is proud to announce our partnership with Challenger Sports. Challenger Sports is the leading soccer camp operator in the USA and Canada. They are also a partner with the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
This partnership will give us the freedom to start a soccer academy geared to children under the age of eight. We have hired a coach from England to come over and work with SCOR FC. SCOR Rovers Academy is open to anyone U6-U8 who is interested in developing better soccer skills and soccer knowledge.

Our Academy Goals are:

Create an affordable and enriching clinic for children interested in learning the game of soccer.
To develop each players skill level in a safe environment.
Maintain or foundation of Success, Compete, Observe, Respect.
Create a high expectation that all players work and strive to be their best.
To keep every player constantly touching a ball. We want to create an environment that keeps the kids moving. We discourage long lines or drills that cause a lot of prep work.

How the SCOR Rovers Academy works:

Spring will be 7 weeks longs starting April 13th.
The cost is $110
We will offer three soccer sessions per week in three different towns. You can go to the field that is closest to you or you can go to all three.
Training will take place three days a week.
Friday Nights – Club training at the Central Tree Middle School Rutland, or Roach field Hardwick
Saturday Mornings – QYS inter-league games
Sunday Nights – Club training at the Town Recreational Fields Hubbardston
Friday and Sunday practices will be an hour long. 45 min will be set aside for training. The last 15 min will consist of small sided scrimmages with rules geared to the training of that day.
Saturdays will be a small practice with a Match to follow. Academy students will be split into teams that will participate in the Quabbin Youth Soccer U6/U8 Spring Instructional Inter-League season.

At the U8 level our main goal is to develop foot skills while still focusing on all aspects of the game of soccer.

Some of the skills we will be working on:

Dribbling -- change of speed, change of direction, using all parts of the feet. Shielding
1 v 1 - Fast foot work, feints, fakes etc, attacking with speed
Passing / Receiving – correct technique, using both feet, weighted passes, balance and good first touch
Shooting – Ball striking, placement shooting, movement off the ball
Defense – Shielding, correct positioning, delaying, defending with numbers
Small Sided Games – using small sided game to increase touches on the ball while still simulating the game of soccer.

Please feel free to call or email with any questions.
