About SCOR FC

SCOR FC is a young and fast growing soccer club offering premier level competition in Worcester County. We are made up of parents, players and coaches committed to building a quality soccer club that is affordable, honest and approachable. From our humble beginning as a single instructional level team to a competitive opponent for any MAPLE team (Massachusetts premier soccer league),
SCOR FC has followed four defining principles.
Success: practice hard, play hard, do our best in everything you do...on and off the soccer field
Character: everyone is a leader, make good decisions...in the game and in life
Observe: the laws of the game, play fairly and make good character decisions at all times
Respect: our teammates, our coaches and above all, our opponents

Our goal is to create a competitive premier youth soccer program. SCOR FC will target youth players of Western, Northern and Southern Central Massachusetts. Our objective is to establish a club that can compete with other premier teams in our region. The primary goal is to create a culture of advanced soccer development with innovative strength and conditioning programs.
SCOR FC will begin developing U8, U9, and U10 teams as part of our expansion plans for 2012. Currently, we have one U11G team competing in MAPLE, which competed in the MASC league last spring. Our goal is to take other age groups along a similar development path to MAPLE path.
It will be important to have a great deal of dedication and cooperation from parents, players, and coaches in our formative beginnings. Having this high level of commitment early on will be a key foundation for success. At times we'll take our lumps along the way, so having a positive outlook and patience is critical.

Building the Club

If you have a child that is interested in a different and challenging soccer experience, we strongly encourage you to contact John Gillis or Dave Noel for more information. We are seeking players that have a love of the game, are willing to listen and try new things and want to play at a higher level of competition. Further announcements about informational sessions, tryouts and enrollment time periods will be posted here on our website and Facebook page, along with local media stories.

Health and Safety

One of the most important factors that our coaching staff is constantly monitoring is the health and safety of the SCOR FC players. During practices and games, close attention is given to how the players are feeling and reacting to any injury that may occur. We are always making sure they are properly hydrated and are advising the club’s players the importance of proper nutrition. We work with parents to make sure that the appropriate medical follow-up is conducted in the event a player is injured.

One particular area that we are closely monitoring is head injuries and the risk of concussions. The coaching staff has completed courses organized by the US Department of Health on the prevention and recognition of signs of possible concussions. Our young players are particularly vulnerable as their brains and nervous systems are still developing. We have some useful information for parents in the Links area of our website to learn more about this subject. We encourage you to read this information.

All adults that interact with the players of SCOR FC have to be processed through the Massachusetts Department of Justice’s CORI background checks. In no uncertain terms are the players working with adults that have not been subjected to these clearances.

The officials and coaches of SCOR FC are committed to providing a safe, healthy environment for our players to grow and thrive while advancing their skills in this great sport.
